Why Are You Acting Like You Don’t Know What To Do

In my mind, I was rehearsing the scenario that took place the previous day. The more I thought about it, the angrier I became. This individual offended me and I was allowing the offense to consume me. Before I could go deeper into thought about the situation; the Holy Spirit got my attention with this question, “Why are you acting like you don’t know what to do?” At that moment, I knew He was reminding me that instead of getting worked up about the situation my initial response should be prayer. I paused and quickly shifted gear and began to pray about the situation. My heart went from feeling anxious and unsettled to being filled with the peace of God.

How many times have I given up this peace because I act as if I don’t know that I should pray in all situations? Truth is, we live in a broken world. People will offend us. Situations will take place that could quickly push us to a place of worry and anger. But in these moments we must not retreat and respond in the flesh and act as if we don’t know that prayer should ALWAYS be our first and ONGOING response. What have you been turning over in your mind? Have you brought it to God in prayer or are you trying to figure it out on your own?
To encourage your heart, I leave you with the words of Philippians 4:6-8 : Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
